Turveruukki   has made agreement to be sponsor of the Forest Bioenergy 2010 conference.Founded in 1975, the company has its head office in Oulu Technology Park. Turveruukki´s operations are based largely on cooperation with some 200 independent subcontractors, who receive their income on basis of the energy content of the peat delivered (in megawatthours, MWh) . Company´s own permanent staff numbers 14.

In 2009, annual turnover was approx. 20  mill. euros. The principal shareholder is Oulu City Council, although shares are also held by some municipal and rural councils and power generation companies.

The company possesses 15 000 hectares of peat bogs. Annual production capacity is about 2 mill. cubic meters.Fuel peat is the company´s chief product. Alongside peat, wood fuel and reed canary grass are delivered to power plants in northern Finland for generation of heating and electricity.Finland.
